Founded by a third-generation Maestro Mezcalero, Saturnino Martínez Méndez, Mala Mia Mezcal is a brand that captures the essence of traditional mezcal. The brand is deeply rooted in the village of Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico, where each bottle is meticulously crafted at the Palenque Tepextate. Mala Mia Mezcal stands out for its unique four-day agave roasting process, which is shorter than the conventional seven-day method, yet brings out the distinctive flavors of the agave. The brand is committed to artisanal craftsmanship, using a traditional horse-drawn stone wheel for grinding and natural fermentation with wild yeasts. Each batch is double-distilled over 36 hours, and the final product is certified by the Consejo Regulador Del Mezcal, ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
For a cuishe, it didn’t blow me away, but was 100% solid.
