A bit rough on the palate, sadly not quite my taste

Great for cocktails

This is a solid mezcal for its price point. This was my go-to when I first got into mezcal, but I mainly use it in cocktails these days – it has all the notes of smoke and agave you want in a mezcal cocktail, but I’d rather sip on something better

First mezcal I liked

I tried at a restaurant prepared with Maracuya, pretty nice!

1st one I ever tried

This is the first mezcal I’ve ever tried when I was in Mexico. Only later did I learn that it isn’t any good compared to the real stuff. For a cocktail it might be ok.

You kind of get what you pay for…

It’s really not great. It’s like the Jose Cuervo of mezcal. Nonetheless, it’s a decent introductory mezcal for new drinkers.

400 Conejos Mezcal

The brand story of 400 Coñejos Mezcal, owned by Tequila company Jose Cuervo and produced in Oaxaca, is rooted in Mexico's spiritual history. The name draws inspiration from an ancient Mesoamerican religious practice where only priests communicated with the divine through ritualistic consumption of agave-based beverages. These sacred drinks, reserved for the spiritual elite, were associated with the gods known as centzon-totchtin, or "400 rabbits" in Nahuatl. The term "400" symbolized a vast, unquantifiable number. Today, every bottle of 400 Coñejos Mezcal is said to encapsulate the spirit of these countless rabbits. This rather affordable mezcal is the top-selling brand in Mexico. this mezcal is a popular choice for crafting cocktails.
