"Los Amantes Mezcal" is a brand that has been crafting artisanal mezcal since 2003. The brand's name, which translates to "The Lovers," is inspired by the Aztec legend of Mayahuel, the goddess of agave. The distillery, located in Tlacolula de Matamoros, Oaxaca, was the first to be internationally certified, bearing the NOM 001X. Los Amantes Mezcal is a testament to tradition, culture, and taste, offering a range of mezcals that capture the essence of Oaxaca. The brand is part of the organization "Oaxaca Tierra del Mezcal," which seeks to improve the quality of life of Oaxacan producers and exports more than two million liters of mezcal a year.

The mezcal isn’t amazing, but it has a dear place in my heart. I remember sitting in their window sill on a pillow drinking this mezcal and watching the world go by. It might not be the best, but I can’t have much of an unbiased opinion when I have such a romantic memory of this brand.
At under $50, it’s not a bad deal. Totally drinkable. I wouldn’t order it if I were in Oaxaca, but pretty decent for our selection in the States.
This is one of the first mezcals that convinced me that mezcal is not just “smoky tequila”. It has all the usual notes of a decent espadin, without too much smoke to cover the flavors.
Honestly, like the other one I tried from this brand, it fell flat. Disappointing
