It actually surprised me—in a good way. I wasn’t a fan of their joven, but the barrel aging really worked here. The harshness from the joven is mellowed out, and you get nice flavors of grape musk, caramel, and light smoke. It’s smooth and sweet. That said, it’s not exactly mind-blowing, but it’s definitely better than I expected.
Sombra Joven is a masterpiece of balance!
I tasted a blend of fruity and smoky notes, it’s a great choice for cocktails and mixology. I also like it as a sipper, but it really shines in cocktails.
