Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, translating to "Eye of the Tiger," is a distinguished brand founded in Puebla, Mexico in 2008 and introduced to the USA in 2020. A collaboration between the esteemed Mexican actor-producer, Luis Gerardo Mendez and Casa Lumbre (alongside other brands like Montelobos, for example). The mezcal's name is inspired by the Tiger Eye stone, historically worn as an amulet for protection and fortune. The bottle's unique design, reminiscent of the anforita used by Méndez's grandfather in the fields, adds a touch of heritage and personal connection to the brand's identity.
Lacks flavor and complexity unfortunately, rather generic.
It is quite smoky, which isn’t quite my favorite as a sipper, also quite sweet. It’s missing some body and balance. It might be a good mezcal to start out with
Doesn’t blow me away by any means, but will get the job done.
