I had this cuishe as part of a tasting at the Gracias a dios palenque just outside of Oaxaca. A beautiful, smooth and very yummy expression. Very balanced, some minerals in there, not too much smoke, just how I like it. “Green” aromas and a little spicy, great stuff!

I tried this one at the Gracias a dios palenque near Oaxaca – and it was delicious! Very nice and well balanced, and it wasn’t some mango juice with mezcal. They used mango pulp in the distillation process – and you have a very nice, subtle but noticable mango aftertaste. Overall, a well produced mezcal with a nice little twist in the aftertaste. Also, if you’re ever in Oaxaca, make sure you visit the Gracias a dios palenque, a very cute little family run palenque, the owners are happy to share all their knowledge and show you around. Great experience!

Gracias a Dios Mezcal

Born out of admiration for the craft, Gracias a Dios Mezcal was established in 2010 by a team who ran a mezcalería in Querétaro, Mexico. After tasting the exceptional mezcal of Oscar Hernández, they decided to create a brand and made Oscar an equal partner. A 4th generation Maestro Mezcalero, Oscar learned the art of distilling from his mother, known as “La Jefa”. The brand is 100% artisanal, with the mezcal handmade from Espadín agave and other varieties in their own palenque in Santiago Matatlán. Notably, their Karwinskii agaves are mechanically shredded due to their tough fibers, then crushed by a horse-drawn tahona. Gracias a Dios Mezcal is a testament to tradition and partnership.
