Dos Hombres Mezcal, founded in 2019, is the brainchild of American actors Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, famous for their roles Jesse Pinkman and Walter White in the series Breaking Bad. The brand's name, "Dos Hombres", translates to "two men" in English. This artisanal mezcal is distilled in small batches in San Luis del Río, Oaxaca, Mexico, using traditional production methods. The expertise behind this spirit is attributed to Gregorio Velasco, a third-generation maestro mezcalero, who began his mezcal production journey at the age of eight. In 2021, Constellation Brands recognized the brand's value and acquired a minority stake. Dos Hombres Mezcal's quality is underscored by its awards from prestigious events such as the London Spirit Competition, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and more.
It’s got a good mix of smoky and sweet flavors, which makes it pretty easy to drink, especially if you’re not used to mezcal
I would put it in the same category as 400 conejos. It’s one of the most commercialized and recognizable brands, but that doesn’t mean it’s very good. I think of Dos Hombres in the same light as I would think of Budweiser and Coors in the beer world. It’s not gonna blow your socks off but will definitely get your feet wet.
This mezcal gets a lot of bad rep from the mezcal community. It’s not the best mezcal out there, but what do you expect from a celebrity product? It’s ok, quite smoky, of course not comparable to a Jolgorio, Real Minero, etc. I’ve had many better mezcals, but I’ve also
had worse tbh.
I bought this mezcal on a whim, and it turned out to be a great decision. It’s got a nice balance of sweetness and smokiness, which I appreciated.
