Founded in 1999, Alipus Mezcal is a project of the Destilería Los Danzantes, with a strong social focus and a commitment to elevating the quality of artisanal mezcal production. The brand works with 11 producers from six different regions, each lending their unique touch to the mezcal they produce. Alipus Mezcal is all about trust and community, with no exclusivity contracts binding their producers. This allows the brand to grow organically, inviting new producers to join the family when production reaches its peak. Alipus Mezcal is not just a drink, it's a celebration of the rich tapestry of Oaxacan culture and the dedicated artisans who pour their heart and soul into every bottle.
Not my favorite but it’s got some character. I get a bit of a mineral and a hint of pepper that lingers a bit too long for my taste. But what throws me off is the alcohol bite that overpowers the rest. A bit too rough around the edges, for my taste. Good for cocktails though where you can mask that with something sweet or sour.
Hits the nose pretty hard. Not very smoky. A bit too much bite for my taste, but nonetheless still a decent mezcal.
