Pelotón de la Muerte Criollo

Pelotón de la Muerte, a mezcal brand that carries the spirit of rebellion, is named after the insurgent army "The Squadron of Death," which sought vengeance for the murder of priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. The brand's label, a black cross and bones on a red background, symbolizes the blood of the leader, mourning for the priest, and honor for his remains. The mezcal itself is produced by Hector Obregon in Mazatlan, Guerrero, using 100% Maguey Criollo. The agaves are cooked and fermented in open-air for five days, then double distilled in both an Arabic and Filipino still with a wood hat. The result? A mezcal with notes of candied apple and sweet caramel. Authentic rebels, Pelotón de la Muerte is all about upholding their beliefs, even if it means running towards death.
