The Madre Espadin is rather light and neutral/muted, and I think that might make it a good start for beginners, since it doesn’t scare you off. I get some vanilla and fruit. It’s not too smoky or too harsh either. But I’m missing some flavor and punch. Since it’s so neutral, it would be a good cocktail mezcal, so if you’re looking for a budget cocktail mixer, go for it. For sipping it’s just lacking some character for me.
