La Luna Mezcal is a traditional mezcal brand crafted by the Perez Escot family in Etucuaro, Michoacan, at Destiladora Las Azucenas. The family has been making mezcal on the same property since 1910, currently led by the fourth generation of mezcaleros, Isidro Perez Escot, and his son Amador. The brand is part of Puente International, founded by Salvador Chavez, who is dedicated to creating jobs and highlighting underappreciated regions of Mexico. La Luna has evolved from a single expression mezcal to a range of expressions representing Michoacan's biodiversity. The brand is committed to creating jobs and retaining a team in rural Michoacan, paying higher than market rates to ensure long-term employment. They are working on expanding their production facilities and planning with different family farms to meet the growing demand while making a stronger human impact.
La Luna tequilana is fantastic! Smooth, citrussy and full of flavor. I’d give 10 if I could. If you can get your hand on one of these bad boys, be quick!
Mezcal made out of the “tequila agave”? Interesting one… so I wanted to try. It’s quite sweet and fruity, with vanilla and ethanol on the nose. Clean and crisp, little to no smoke. Not the most complex but a pleasant sipper. Would recommend!
