Founded by the Arellanes family, Don Amado Mezcal has been a staple in the highlands of southern Mexico since the late 18th century. Eleven generations of dedication to artisanal production and experimentation have resulted in a mezcal that is both complex and accessible. The brand is known for its unique production process, which involves roasting agave hearts in earthen pits and distilling the juices in traditional Oaxacan ceramic-and-bamboo pot stills. This method imparts a distinctive smoky flavor and herbal bouquet to the mezcal. The brand's aged varieties are matured in barrels previously used for Pedro Domecq Brandy, adding another layer of complexity to the flavor profile.
