La Jicarita Mezcal, a product of Frijolotes LLC, is a brand that specializes in handcrafted, small-batch mezcal. Founded by art department buddies Young Jung and Fred Baptista, the idea for the company was born from a 30-day road trip through Mexico in 2006. The brand's mezcal is traditionally crafted, with meticulous attention to detail from the selection of wood for roasting to the harvesting of wild yeast cultures. One of their notable offerings, La Jicarita Tepeztate, is produced by Celso Martínez López in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, using 30-year-old wild maguey Tepeztate plants. This limited 300-liter batch is a testament to the brand's commitment to quality and tradition.
